Books built for event businesses.

I keep the books for companies that produce running races and baseball and softball tournaments. Monthly books, a profit and loss statement for every event, and a clear view of the money you've collected for events that haven't happened yet.

Who I work with

Two kinds of event producers.

Running race producers

Race companies putting on 8 to 25 races a year. Registrations come in months before race day, charity dollars pass through your account, and the platform payout rarely lines up with the bank deposit line for line. I sort out what you've earned, what you still owe runners and charity partners, and what each race cleared.

Baseball and softball tournament producers

Tournament companies running 8 to 40 events a year. Deposits, rainout credits and housing rebates make it hard to tell what a weekend really made. I track the deposits you haven't earned yet and the credits you still owe teams, so each tournament's results are real.

40.4% of marathon registrations are sold 120 or more days before race day.

On a calendar-year close, that money can land in the wrong year's profit.

Services

Start with a Health Check.

Start here

Health Check

One event's registration payouts traced to the bank, an estimate of how much of your registration money is still unearned, and a check on money you're holding for others. You get a short written memo and a call to walk through it, whether or not you hire me for anything after.

Monthly Books & Event Reporting

Your books closed every month, every registration platform payout reconciled, and a profit and loss statement for each event. Money collected for future events stays on the balance sheet until the event happens. Includes a quarterly call, 1099s, and a year-end package for your CPA.

Books Cleanup

Running the business out of a spreadsheet? I rebuild a year of books in QuickBooks Online or Xero, with every payout matched to the bank and opening balances for money you've collected but haven't earned.

Season Budget & Event Reporting

A season budget built event by event, so you know before registration opens what each event needs to clear. Includes a per-event report template and a written procedure for keeping the budget current.

How it starts

Three steps, no guesswork.

  1. A free intro call.

A short call to talk through how you run your events and where your books stand.

  2. A flat-fee Health Check.

I look at one event from registration to bank deposit and give you a short written memo.

  3. A quote based on what's actually in your books.

Monthly books, a cleanup, or a budget, priced from what the Health Check found, not from a guess.

What I don't do

I'm not a CPA firm, and I don't prepare tax returns. I work alongside your CPA and give them clean, current books to work from. I don't run payroll or pay your bills, and I never have access to move your money.
